“We will work to introduce a civilian constitution in Türkiye”

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan held a press conference following the Presidential Cabinet Meeting at the Presidential Complex. Drawing attention to the May 14 and May 28 elections’ results, President Erdoğan said that they will see in the course of time the benefits of welcoming the centenary of the Republic with the Presidential System of Government, and noted: “From now on we will run even faster towards our goals. We will realize more quickly our century-long dreams. We will implement in a much shorter period of time our projects and plans. We will overcome more easily the challenges and setbacks. We will further increase the number of services that touch the hearts of our citizens. We will repel in a more determined manner the attacks against our homeland’s future. We will put up a much more resolute fight against terrorist organizations at home and abroad. We will defend in a much bolder manner Türkiye’s rights at global level. We will voice more loudly our claim that the world is bigger than five. We will contribute in a more efficient manner to the peace and stability in our region. We will uphold in a more firmly manner our reforms in the areas of democracy, rights and freedoms. We will realize more swiftly our vision to raise our country above the level of contemporary civilizations by building the Century of Türkiye.” “TÜRKİYE HAS NOW RISEN TO A NEW LEAGUE WITH THE MAY 14 AND MAY 28 ELECTIONS” President Erdoğan said: “We, together, want to liberate our country from its current constitution, which is the product of a coup d’état. We want our journey in the second century of our Republic to be guided by a civilian, libertarian and inclusive constitution that is embraced by all segments of the society. Türkiye has now attained the political atmosphere needed to achieve this.” Underlining that the Turkish democracy is now strong enough to get rid of the last shackles on its feet, President Erdoğan stated: “Türkiye has now risen to a new league with the May 14 and May 28 elections. We will inshallah work with our partners in the People’s Alliance to introduce a civilian constitution in Türkiye during our time in office.” “TÜRKİYE’S AREA OF INFLUENCE HAS GONE WELL BEYOND ITS BORDERS” Underscoring that one of the leading areas Türkiye has changed the status quo is foreign policy, President Erdoğan said that they, during their terms of government, have turned an introvert country into a playmaker effective power that is capable of foiling games when need be, and added: “It is not possible for an equation, in which Türkiye is not included or to which Türkiye does not contribute, to be lasting in our region. Our ideal of strong Türkiye both at the table and on the ground is not a dream any more, but a fact.” President Erdoğan noted: “Today, our country’s area of influence has gone well beyond its borders. That the latest elections were very closely followed all across the world, from Africa to Asia, Europe to Latin America, the Turkic world to the Muslim world, is the embodiment of this. Hundreds of millions of people who even though have no physical ties but ties of affection with us see their future in Türkiye. Our achievements please our brothers and sisters as well as friends living in those countries as much as they do us. We witnessed this at the level of representation and the number of the states that attended our inauguration. We once again saw this during our first foreign visits we made after having been reelected.” “WE WILL NEVER ALLOW THE RIGHTS OF TÜRKİYE AND THE TRNC TO BE USURPED” “Our Turkish Cypriot brothers and sisters welcomed us wholeheartedly in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus starting from the airport, and showed with their affection that our election victory is also the victory of the Turkish Cypriot people.  And, we have reiterated our strong support to our Cyprus cause during our talks with President Tatar. We once again shared with the international community our red lines concerning the upcoming period. We, shoulder to shoulder with the Turkish Cypriot people, the inseparable part of the Turkish people, will maintain our struggle,” the President stressed. Underscoring that they will take all kinds of legal, economic and political steps to deepen the integration between Türkiye and the TRNC, President Erdoğan added that they will never allow the rights of Türkiye and the TRNC to be usurped. “WE ATTACH GREAT IMPORTANCE TO THE ESTABLISHMENT OF TÜRKİYE-AZERBAIJAN UNIVERSITY” Also touching upon his Azerbaijan visit, President Erdoğan noted that they will never forget the solidarity displayed by Azerbaijan in the earthquakes that took place on February 6, and continued as follows: “Especially, my brother Ilham’s spiritual support during all this period is in the most precious place of our hearts. We consider our Azerbaijan visit to be the fulfilment of our debt of gratitude beyond being among our country’s customs. We have taken a great number important decisions that will enhance our bilateral relations in every area during our meetings with my brother Ilham Aliyev. We have set a common goal of increasing our trade volume to 15 billion dollars. As the two leaders we attach great importance to the establishment of Türkiye-Azerbaijan University. We have reiterated our support to the ongoing normalization process with Armenia. We have reaffirmed our great expectation for the restoration of peace and stability in our region. We see the Azerbaijan flag waving with pride in Karabakh today after a 30-year-long occupation as the symbol of our brotherhood. We will work even harder in order for our relations with brotherly Azerbaijan to become an institutionalized economic and political integration model.”
